Resumen
Intentamos demostrar con estas líneas que el topónimo Sepúlveda es una creación de dos pueblos distintos; los indoeuropeos preceltas establecidos en el tramo medio del Duratón pusieron el nombre a la parte baja: *durbeda «el foso o canal del río». La parte alta fue ocupada en el siglo V a. C. por un grupo reducido de tartesios que llamaron al lugar *Saippo con el típico formante meridional *-ippo «ciudad». La unión de ambos nombres en algún momento sin determinar es lo que ha configurado definitivamente el topónimo.

Abstract
We try to show in this lines that the place name Sepúlveda is a creation of two different peoples. Indoeuropean pre-celtic established in the middle stretch of the river Duratón named the lower: *durbeda «the moat or channel of the river». The top was occupied in the fifth century B.C. by a small group of people from Tartessos they called the place *Saippo with typical southern formant *-ippo «city». The link of both names, sometime undetermined, is what has really set the place name.
